Lehenga Blouse

I somehow managed to sew my daughter's lehenga blouse which is # 8 on my Q4 FinishAlong goals. This is a silk material so needed to be lined as well. This is my first time sewing a lined blouse.

My daughter trying it on.

Quilt 2 for Ronald McDonald House

The X and O quilt on my Q4 FinishAlong Goals # 5 is finally completed. I wanted it to be a boy quilt, so I replaced the purple squares with blue and yellow from my stash. I only realized while sewing the blocks that there are so many variations in arranging them. For this quilt I arranged all x's and o's in separate rows. I sure would like to experiment with other arrangements. So I will be doing more x and o quilts in the future.
Hung on the window with sun shining through it.

On the floor.

Pieced backing for the charity quilt

I am doing spiral quilting on this quilt. This is my first time doing spiral quilting with walking foot. Well I started with my all purpose foot and switched it to walking foot. I hope it turns out good. I'll be posting the finished quilt in the next day or two.

Widened the gap between the spirals gradually .

All quilted and bound.

Wave Runner

Although it's been a while since I posted anything, I have been sewing a little regularly. I did accomplish sewing and quilting the Wave Runner #9 on my Finish Along Q3 goals. In total I have only completed 4 from the list of 11. Probably that's way too ambitious for someone with a baby at hand. I did sew a few things that was not on the list. So it wasn't a total failure.
Anyway the wave runner pattern is from the Easy Quilts magazine Winter edition of 2013. It was pretty easy to sew but a little weird to quilt because of its shape. It is 70" long.

Did some straight line quilting on purple, stippling on tan and followed the design on green.

Baby Sun Hat

Today I just took the courage to cut into that cute heart fabric to make the sun hat (#3 on my Finish Along Q3 goals. I didn't use the pattern I had for the hat, which had 6 panels, instead I used the pattern from this site. It was the right size for my baby so I went with that.

Fits like a glove on my daughter

Eid Banner

Eid Mubarak sign July Finish # 4 and Finish Along Q3 #5  is completed. I think it is okay but needs a little bit more pizzaz, may  be some glitter, hmmm.  My son says the moon looks like a banana. May be I should redo that. It does kind of look like a silver banana.

Template cut out for the banner

String of Pearls

This quilt is on my July Finishing Goal and #1 on Finish Along Q3 list. I am so glad I chose to get it quilted rather than quilt it myself on my machine with that tiny throat space. I made this quilt top as part of  QAL @ Christa's Quilts in which she used the pearl bracelet fabrics and hence the name. Well I just couldn't come up with a better name so the 'String of Pearls' stands.
The String of Pearls quilt gifted to my daughter.
Pieced Back of the quilt. I really liked the way it turned out. Looks like it could be the top as well. Not a clear photo though.
Beautifully quilted by Carole Staples on her long-arm machine.

Charity quilt 2 for 2014

<a href="http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/11468295/?claim=be4z2tgfqgx">Follow my blog with Bloglovin</a>

This is on my FinishAlong Q4 list #5.

These fabrics are from the Ronald McDonald House's quilt kit. I usually make a simple charm square quilt. This time I want to do something different and I am thinking to pair a solid fabric with the prints and do an XO quilt. I am planning to get this done by September.

I started working on this quilt only with the  small yellow print and animal print fabrics, because I want it to be a boy quilt. I am adding other blue and yellow fabric from my stash to make up for the flower fabric elimination. Hopefully it'll turn out good.

Cute outfit for Baby

Dress with pockets and rick-rack hem.
Another finish for my Quarter 2 Finish Along List . This is #5 on the List. I thought I would really finish a couple more but hey its at-least 50% done and I am happy with it.
For this dress I used bias maker to make bias binding using the main fabric rather than buying a contrast binding. I bought the bias maker a decade ago may be. Whenever I tried it, the end product was sloppy but this time it came out perfect and I won't dread to use it again.

The two small pockets brought character to the dress and officially made it cute.

This is the second time using rick rack and I love it.

Baby Girl dress completed

This dress (Finish Along List #6) I started couple of years ago in order to enter for the American Sewing Guild Contest. When I couldn't complete it before the due date, it ended up in the closet zipper unattached, pack of rick rack, bias binding and pattern and all in a ziploc. I took it out of the closet when I found out I was going to have a girl last April and it sat on the table until this April. Wait another 8 months to actually try it on my baby when she turns 18 months old.

Zipper attached.
Layered rickrack hemmings.

Neck and collar bound using bias single fold binding.
